Here are two rare images of members from the 53rd Maryland. The one image shows soldier with brass “D” on kepi. Company D 53rd Infantry “Maryland Guard”was commanded by Capt. William Murray. The other image shows soldier with a 1842 musket.
This page belongs to “Company D” 2nd Maryland Infantry. We are a Confederate Civil War living history group based in Baltimore, Maryland. We attend events in the Mid-Atlantic region of the US. Our Company is member to both The Southern Division and the CWHI organizations. Our goal is to educate and provide the public with an accurate portrayal of soldiers who served in the 1st Maryland Infantry Regiment CSA 1861-1865 as well as educate the public on the causes leading up to the War Between the States from a Marylander’s perspective.
